Matching short sets

Right now as the temperature hits 30 degrees in the UK short sets are the only thing getting me through this hot weather. When on holiday I live in short sets, they are chic, effortless and easy to wear together. What makes them great is the fact you get so many outfits in one, packing them doesn’t mean just one outfit but lots of other combinations when you pair them with other pieces in your suitcase.

Fancy a co-ord?

What’s a co-ord I hear you say? It is two piece outfits that match either in print, colour or fabric. This season a co-ord is a must-have. I love the versatility of one, when you wear it together it’s a super stylish outfit, but the pieces can also be worn separately with other pieces in your wardrobe to make up lots more outfits.

Multi-wear co-ords can be dressed up or dressed down for all body shapes, styles and occasions. Requiring minimal styling but arguably causing maximum impact, they’ll not only halve your getting ready time but will also help solve the conundrum of what to wear. First imagined by Coco Chanel in the 1920s, contemporary co-ords have their roots in her instantly recognisable matching tweed cardigan jackets and skirts. For SS22, they come in all shapes, sizes and styles – observed on this season’s catwalks.

Matchy matchy sets are very much on the 2022 style agenda so get yours now.

Spring jackets that everyone needs

I know the temperatures haven’t exactly been Spring like these past couple of weeks, but it will get there eventually and one of the hardest things to nail is finding the perfect Spring jacket. I get asked it every year by clients to find what will be the best jacket to keep you stylish when you can (finally!) pack your coat away.

One of my many wardrobe tips is to invest in a number of different jackets as a jacket can really change up an outfit. From a super casual denim jacket, to a cool leather biker, right through to the on-trend trench coat, anything and everything goes, just make sure you have a couple to hand so you can try a few different looks with the same outfit.

The transition from Winter to Spring and even Summer still requires quite a bit of layering in this country, and making the switch over from heavy Winter coat to lighter styles feels transformative. And while we are still freezing cold whilst braving it in a pub garden right now, it pays to be prepared for when that switch in temperature happens, and it will!

Whilst not every style suits every body shape or colouring there are always go-to styles that you are rely on. For me there are six key styles that dominate the season ahead. From the update on the shacket that you can start wearing now, to the overhauled denim jacket that's sticking around, get inspired by some Spring jacket shopping.

TOP 6 STYLES FOR SPRING

  1. Denim jacket

2. Printed jacket

3. Trench coat

4. Biker jacket

5. Shacket

6. Blazer

7. Short jacket

My Spring Fashion Fix

AW20 wishlist (3).jpg

Back in Autumn I had challenged myself to update my transitional Autumn wardrobe with 5 new pieces, using my Fashion Fix service. Identifying key items that I wanted and needed to transition from Summer into Autumn and when I look back now those items I brought have been worn time and time again and I will continue to wear again this Spring. Now it’s Spring and I have repeated the same challenge (admittedly I have gone 1 over by buying 6 items), to introduce into my wardrobe and style in the coming weeks.

Now is such a great time to reassess what you have in your wardrobe mainly because we are changing seasons but also because we are starting to come out of lockdown. For a whole year now there had been no need for anything but comfy outfits or outfits to walk in, but like a butterfly we will all start emerging and utilising more of our wardrobe when we do. Take some time out to pop your Winter jumpers away so you can really see what you have in your wardrobe that you are going to wear in the coming weeks. This gives you a chance to detox what has perhaps been sitting there for months and gets you thinking about some newness you my need.

As there is still alot of uncertainty about re-emerging right now you might not need alot of new pieces which is why my Fashion fix of 5 pieces to update your wardrobe is a great fill in for your style needs. Let me inspire you by showing you what I have brought and how I have been styling the new pieces.
