What to wear on Christmas Day

This is always a dilemma for alot of Women out there and I often get asked; “What can I wear on Christmas Day?”. Lots of practical reasons will have an affect on what you wear on the big day; Are you cooking? Are you having guests? Do you go out for lunch? It also can be filled in family traditions, some people get really dressed up and others stay in their pyjamas all day chilling out grazing on cheese and chocolate. But this year more than ever it seems to be in the forefront of our minds, maybe because we were locked down last year so there was no need to make any effort, so this year people do.

Organised shoppers will invest in hardworking pieces – co-ords are always a clever buy – that can be dressed up and down to suit every festive situation. But, then again, this day only comes once a year; so I’ve included a few statement looks that will serve you for many a Christmas to come. If you’re on the relaxed end of the scale, you can still dress for the occasion: luxe loungewear is such a stylish option as is the comfy knitted dress.

Whether you’re ready to embrace a festive ensemble, looking for something more versatile to work all winter, or just want pyjamas you're happy to be photographed in, I’ve rounded up some of the best Christmas Day outfits right here to show you how to spend Christmas day in style.

Time to embrace your PJ's & loungewear again

After a crazy busy few weeks of Autumn and then the Christmas run up I think we are all craving the need for a bit of downtime at home around the Christmas tree. Over the past couple of years we have embraced loungewear and PJ dressing due to the pandemic and we have found many ways to utilise our loungewear into daywear by adding knitted jumpers, sequins and trainers to elevate our styling. Loungewear became our daily uniform during lockdown, while working from home was the norm and comfy co-ords were all we wanted to be wearing. Life may be returning to normal now but we're in no way ready to let go of our relaxed new wardrobe essentials.

If you feel like giving your loungewear a refresh for the colder months, then there's never been a better time to shop. So if you have new PJ’s or loungewear on your Christmas list then let me inspire you with these cosy treats.

The check dress will rule this Spring

AW20 wishlist (1).jpg

Check dress are here to stay.

The last 12 months have proved a struggle to wear anything but loungewear, joggers, hoodies or activewear. Lots of women I know haven’t worn a dress the entire time, even in the Summer months so the thought of ‘dressing up’ in a dress might be either scary or exciting now that we are easing out of lockdown. I love wearing dresses, they are easy to throw on, versatile and can also brighten my day as what we wear has an impact in the way that we feel. I think with the easing of lockdown we will rediscover the joy of getting dressed again, projecting a more happier outlook with what we wear.

So if you want to buy a dress that makes you feel good and look stylish then start with looking at check prints. Whether you love a bold plaid or prefer a sunnier picnic blanket-inspired pattern, checks in all their guises are very much making a mark this season. From perfect smock dresses with equally on trend statement sleeves and oversized collars to neater more streamlined options and grunge-inspired shirt dresses, checks are making their mark for Spring 2021 after gathering some momentum last year through Scandinavian retailer Ganni.
