do you love it or loathe it?

You'll find few colours as divisive as pink. It's loathed as much as it is loved. It's been a colour that has been on trend for a number of seasons now and doesn't show any sign of going away for AW16. This season the big fashion houses sent it down the catwalks; Balmain, Preen and Chanel being at the forefront.

Although it's typically girly, there are plenty of pink tones out there that don't feel sickly sweet and crucially come in more grown-up silhouettes. There is definately a place in my wardrobe for pinks, the shades of pink that are in my Winter colour palette - Deep hot pink and Icy pink, two different ends of the pink colour spectrum. This season I'm looking for the paler more icy pink to add into my Autumn wardrobe that will sit with navy, burgundy and grey. For more pink styling inspiration following my pinterest board - pink reigns in AW16

In the coming months the high street will be awash with pink. Marks and Spencer have done a gorgeous pair of satin trousers that would suit all ages, Finery London's folded a-line skirt is for the brave and the beautiful, while River Island, Warehouse and Boden all have pink coats that are boyish in shape. But if you are new to pink then start off with the basics, such as a pair of pink shoes worn with skinny denim jeans or a tomboyish pink sweater. The item for me is the must-have pink coat, but with so many to choose from I'm in danger of having a sugary sweet powdery pink overload!

So perhaps it's time to channel your inner girl and give into the deliciously bubblegumness of the cool-girl pink this season. It's still going to be a hit for SS17, so invest now. Your wardrobe will thank you for it, so gone on...I dare you!

Why Leopard print looks good at any age

It's not what you wear, it's how you style it. The key to wearing it well isn't down to the pieces, but the attitude behind them.

Print is king for AW16 and whilst there is alot of talk about zebra prints and cowhide spots, our much-loved leopard print never goes out of style. There's something deliciously devilish about leopard print. Bypass the jokes about Bet Lynch and Pat Butcher and you've got the perfect statement print. It defies trends and crazes, sitting perfectly in your forever wardrobe like a faithful friend.

Loved by Kate Moss, Alexa Chung and Jacqueline Kennedy it works in any season and can be dressed up or down - whatever your age. To reinforce Kate's love for Leopard print, she has just designed a capsule collection for brand Equipment and of course there is alot of Leopard print involved.

I think it's time we started celebrating the timeless fabulousness of this faithful friend. With this in mind, here are my styling notes when wearing the lovely leopard print...

1. Put your best foot forward

Animal print shoes are an easy way to wear the print without investing too much money or coverage on your body. Printed trainers or boots are a fun way to inject day looks with some style and character. Add some pointy pumps to your evening wear and it will give any unexpected kick to any black dress or skinny jeans and top combo.

2. A coat is a classic trophy item

Throwing on a leopard print coat is short cut to looking elegant but not too prim. Edgy but not too thought-out. I love my leopard print fut coat and every year wear it in the evening, to the pub of even over long black dresses. It looks great paired with black, but don't shy away from other colours as leopard print and yellow make a lovely combination too.

3. Accessories are key

This season I am obsessed with finding the perfect leopard print bag. Forget the fact that I already own a clutch bag in leopard print, a shopper in leopard print and come to think about it maybe a couple more sitting in their dustbags too...I would love a cross over body bag. It will go with all my coats and it become my new best friend.

4. Don't skirt around the issue

Still bang on trend for this AW16 and not going away is the skirt. Paired simply with a black top, denim shirt or sweater and biker jacket you can update your look with one simple printed piece.

Some seriously stylish slacks

edits styling notes

I honestly think that at the moment pretty much any trouser shape goes. Skinny, culotte, wide leg, sports luxe, tapered, cropped, cuffed. So how do you find a style that suits you and is going to last the test of time?

Firstly it is down to taste, what ever floats your boat and fits into your wardrobe seamlessly. In other words you can wear with lots of tops/shirts/knitwear you already own.

Secondly you have to take into account body and leg shape, and what suits you. For example I love skinnies in the winter with an oversized jumper and a masculine coat. But wearing them with a cropped top in the summer, makes me come out in cold sweats - it's just never going to happen!

So this summer I have been drawn to more looser, sports luxe styles and been obsessing over finding the right ones for me and my wardrobe. As I normally live in jeans all year round want these trousers to add something new into my wardrobe and even though I'm buying them in summer I want to be able to wear them in Winter too.

They create a very modern silhouette whilst being ridiculously comfortable and fit perfectly, but I can't guarantee that they will go with every top in your wardrobe. I have found that plain or stripe jersey tops are the best, shirts and in the winter I will pair with smart knitwear. You can't wear them with printed tops unless you want to clash with the stripe down the side or with sweaters, unless you want to look like you are going to the gym. shake those pompoms!

Head pompom!

Head pompom!

Within a season a micro trend often comes along that's fun, frivolous and plays on our inner child. So while I'm feeling optimistic about the warmer weather, let's jump board the sweetie train and embrace the colourful pompom into our stylish lives.

The best way to wear this trend is through accessories as they will change up any outfit and are relatively in expensive. Some high end designers have added pompoms to their shoes, bags and jewellery and where they lead, the high-street follows.

Dolce and Gabbana Pompom shoes

So whilst these Dolce and Gabbana pompom shoes aren't exactly practical, these ones from Glamorous at ASOS certainly are!

I am currently obsessed with finding the right clutch bag with pompoms on it to take on holiday with me. But with so much choice it's hard to make my mind up.

A fab statement necklace is he bets way to show case this trend. This one is from Zara for £17.99, it will see you through the Summer and can be worn in the daytime or dresses up for the evening - everyone's a winner!

You can even have the mutli-coloured ball's in your home -

Or if you are crafty, there is nothing stopping you from making your own trend inspired pompom adornments.

Pompomania, £3.99, amazon

No one can be in a bad mood in the presence of a pompom which is why I am encouraging you to go forth and purchase something now! Share with me what you have brought in the comments below or on social media.
