Boots of the season

Now is the perfect timing to bag yourself a new pair of boots for the season. Ones that you can start to wear now until Spring. It can be tricky to know what suits you, whats the latest style and what shapes go with what outfits you wear the most. It’s a minefield of heel height and shape, height of the boot, colour or fabric and can overwhelm you when trying to find the perfect pair. Often what you perceive to be something online doesn’t always look that way on you either, so trying them on is always a must.

Chunky boot

This has been around for a couple of seasons now. It doesn’t always suit everyone but they do elevate your outfits. I love wearing mine with dresses, straight leg jeans and skirts.

Updated Chelsea boot

This style has been around for so long and will never got out of fashion but it has had an update. Either longer in the height of the boot so it can go under your straight leg jeans or the sole has got thicker so they aren’t as chunky as the chunky boots but they have a bit of an edge.

Heeled stiletto boot

We can no longer wear heels as we haven’t been wearing them for so long, but a bit of height does elongate our bodies and for evening with jeans, trousers or dresses a heeled boot is the perfect option.

Knee high boot

I am sure we all own a pair of knee high boots somewhere in the back of our wardrobe, well now is the time to pull them out. Great with dresses and skirts, I like a chunkier sole or a riding boot for over jeans and leather leggings.

Cowboy boots

A novelty for the season and something I wouldn’t recommend if you were building a wardrobe to last you years. But these 2 I believe they stand the test of time, through this trend and every year after.

The lockdown trend everyone is crazy for

The official quarantine uniform of lockdown 2020 has to be tie-dye!

top.JPG

Synonymous with the 1960’s, tie-dye will forever be associated with a free-spirited hippy lifestyle. In 2019 catwalk runways predicted the return of the blended brightly coloured print, but last year it didn’t make much of an impact, that is until lockdown happened in 2020. Tie dye has become the latest lockdown fashion winner.

There has been a massive trend towards people at home tie-dying their t-shirts, joggers, dresses and anything else they can get hold of. People are becoming obsessed with tie-dying their clothes that it’s become the hottest quarantine pastime. Search terms such as ‘DIY tie-dye’ and ‘tie-dye sweatshirt’ surged in popularity on Google and You Tube over the past couple of weeks. One of the positives of this trend is that people are upcycling clothes they already own without leaving the house.

Celebs such as Laura Whitmore have been showcasing their tie-dye wardrobes on Instagram. Other Instagram influencers have been using the pastime to get their kids involved whilst home schooling.

If you don’t fancy the DIY version of this then I have found some of the best tie dye pieces around, some I have been lusting after these past few weeks.

Box fresh sneakers wish list

VEJA.JPG

It is impossible to escape the style value of the humble trainer or sneaker. It has blossomed from being the preserve of the hardcore ‘sneaker freaks’ to a full blown style phenomenon. With new brands arising every season with fresh ideas and established brands bringing out new takes on their classics, reinventing the trainer has never been so colourful. Sneakers have moved out from the sports arena and exploded into popular culture as a fashion staple which can define which style tribe you belong.

Here are my top tips when choosing your new trainers -

  • By simply adding some colour with your trainers, this can give your darker outfits more style with a pop of brighter colours.

  • Trainers don’t just work with jeans, they can look great with tailored trousers, dresses and skirts so have become more versatile.

  • If your trainers are patterned or coloured then go easy on other accessories as it will create too much busyness to your outfit.

  • Retro inspired and heritage sports brands will last longer and will prove timeless pieces in your wardrobe.

  • Trainers are not just reserved for daytime, don’t be scared to wear them with jazzier outfits such as sequins in the evening to pair down your look.

On my wish list this Spring is to buy a new pair of trainers, my Adidas Stan Smiths have got scuffs and marks all over them and my Converse high tops have seen better days even after a wash in the machine. I have been debating for a while now as to what to get, what serves me best, goes with my wardrobe, enhances my style and what I am willing to spend my money on. There is so much choice out there at the moment that it is hard to choose, so to help me out I have put them in categories to try to narrow it down to one pair.
