Back in January I wrote a blog post about what jackets to buy to move into Spring, I featured the shacket ( overshirt / jacket), yes it’s a thing bear with me….I had brought my check one from Zara and certainly got alot of wear out of it and it’s potential for being versatile in your wardrobe is huge.

Now that the weather has turned I found myself reaching for it again and I have seen alot more shacket’s online whilst shopping these past couple of weeks. Here is my top 5 to buy now and believe me you will get so much wear out of this overshirt in the coming weeks its definitely worth the early Autumn investment now

Summer shorts that will make you say goodbye to denim cut offs

Summer shorts are a style essential and every year I get asked by many clients for me to find them the perfect pair of shorts. Now we are spending more time at home they are a comfy go-to for around the garden. But this season they have had a chic make-over and it’s time to say goodbye to your denim cut-offs.

When thinking of summer shorts it’s easy to jump straight to short shorts; those denim cut-offs made de rigeur by celebrities at Glastonbury, think Kate Moss circa 2005 strutting through the festival fields. As we get older and trends move on, it’s time to move away from the bleached denim and hunter wellies look.

In the past few weeks since we hit some lovely Summer weather, all I have been searching for when shopping is shorts. I’m looking for shorts that look and feel every bit as laidback as denim, but are sophisticated enough to wear outside my house as well as at the beach. All my clients are looking for a cut that flatters your body too, with a longer length, looser cut and just the right amount of structure.

The lockdown trend everyone is crazy for

The official quarantine uniform of lockdown 2020 has to be tie-dye!

top.JPG

Synonymous with the 1960’s, tie-dye will forever be associated with a free-spirited hippy lifestyle. In 2019 catwalk runways predicted the return of the blended brightly coloured print, but last year it didn’t make much of an impact, that is until lockdown happened in 2020. Tie dye has become the latest lockdown fashion winner.

There has been a massive trend towards people at home tie-dying their t-shirts, joggers, dresses and anything else they can get hold of. People are becoming obsessed with tie-dying their clothes that it’s become the hottest quarantine pastime. Search terms such as ‘DIY tie-dye’ and ‘tie-dye sweatshirt’ surged in popularity on Google and You Tube over the past couple of weeks. One of the positives of this trend is that people are upcycling clothes they already own without leaving the house.

Celebs such as Laura Whitmore have been showcasing their tie-dye wardrobes on Instagram. Other Instagram influencers have been using the pastime to get their kids involved whilst home schooling.

If you don’t fancy the DIY version of this then I have found some of the best tie dye pieces around, some I have been lusting after these past few weeks.

The only thing you want right now is a great hoodie

The once basic item is the UK’s most searched for piece of clothing right now.

Since last weekend when I took a look at my ‘isolation wardrobe’ and reassessed what I had that was comfy and will become my uniform over the coming weeks until the weather warmed up, I became obsessed with finding the perfect hoodie to alleviate my daily looks. Once a wardrobe ‘basic’ the hoodie has been slowly making it’s rise on the style ladder and is currently the UK’s most searched for fashion staple right now. In the current climate of stay-at-home outfits we are all craving the comfort - whether it be emotionally or physically - and your clothes is an obvious place to start.

While hoodies have long been a street-wear staple, for the rest of us it was only something you would wear to the gym or round the house. Pre-corona virus it was having a style resurgence with many luxury brands using the hoodie as symbol of fashion nous and wealth whilst some of the most influential brands became reliant on it’s best selling ability. It is now become a staple of contemporary dress and however you style it gives your look a chic simplicity that appeals to everyone.

But for now, in 2020, the hoodie is not a social signifier, a high priced fashion commodity or wealth status, it is a source of comfort, one that we all need.
